Soil Student, CSA, Eggs and more!

Posted 2/7/2017 6:06am by Michael Scheidel.

Hey Good Folks!

This balmy weather is really easy to get used to and who knows, maybe we will have to!  It does farms like ours harm in that pest/fungal/bacteria control are not being checked by subfreezing temperatures.  Because we use NO synthetic chemicals on our farm, we already have a great challenge controlling all three.

Student of the Soil

I just attended PASA's 26th annual Farming For The Future Conference in State College over the weekend and my brain couldn't consume any more information! My conviction for cooperating with natural systems to grow healthy SOIL deepens every year. Most cultivated soils have become so mineral depleted due to poor farming practices that the food grown in it is significantly less nutrient than food grown 50-75 years ago. We are literally malnourishing ourselves in the most abundant land in the world by poor farming and eating choices! Sounds pretty absurd doesn't it!  That is what we are trying to correct on our little patch of earth!

We have some great options for feeding your family the healthiest veggies you can find!  Check out our website for all details about joining our CSA!  We are excited to begin working with Penn State Hershey in offering our CSA to their employees this season and we have plenty of shares available for our farm pick-up, drop-off in Hershey at Woo de La Kitchen, and at Healthy Habits Natural Market in Orwigsburg. Support your local farm by joining our CSA family today!

We are still offering our organically fed brown eggs for $4/dozen until further notice! Help yourselves (honor system payment) here at the farm during daylight hours (no Sundays) in our market room seed fridge. The comparison between eggs laid by happy hens like ours and conventional store bought eggs is almost like night and day!

Gratefully Growing!
