Big Changes for Our Farm

Posted 11/25/2019 6:33pm by Michael Scheidel.

Hey Good Folks!

I have been working a full time manufacturing job for 5 weeks now since the end of the CSA season and wow, what a different world it is!  No exaggeration, I don't see the sun from sunset Sunday until noon on Thursday.  Manufacturing means indoors!  I come home Thursdays and breathe deeply my family and farm and all their challenges.

Pretty Big Change

We slow-hit an insurmountable wall this summer (it's been developing for a few years now) and have had to make some really difficult decisions.  The most difficult one is that we are no longer going to offer our CSA shares as usual.  Our business has always been somewhat divided in two, the CSA on one side and the retail/restaurant on the other side.  After carefully assessing the numbers, the CSA was the most consumptive regarding time and energy for return.  We can no longer have a viable farm business and continue to manage the scale of CSA (approximately 100 shares) we have been.

HOWEVER...what we can manage are 25 shares.  We know that we want to continue offering CSA to our most loyal, long-time local families and are offering the following: half shares (6 items) for Saturday farm pick up.  This will include the normal produce selections you've always enjoyed.  We are going to accept the first 25 shares first come/first served.  We have had to turn down some opportunities to expand our CSA for next season knowing that we have to scale back but also still want to take care of our core customers.

If you are interested, we are requesting sign up/payment right away.  The cost is $365.50 payable to Little Peace Farm or you can pay online through our website (under the CSA/Ordering tab click on the 2020 CSA option and follow to PayPal).

We are very grateful to all of those who have supported us for the past 12 years of growing and will still be having occasional Saturday markets.  We also will still continue raising pastured chicken and woodlot pork!

Gratefully Growing!
